What the Bible Says About Being Sober-Minded Daily His Disciple

But safety is found in these seven words, “Who by God’s power are being guarded.” God exercises His almighty power to secure the spiritual safety of His children. God willingly exercises His almighty power to assure that His children are spiritually safe. I confidently believe to define “sober-minded” is based on an individuals perception of what “not sober” means.

What is sober in Bible?

The Bible defines sober as having a disciplined, controlled, sound mind. We have to filter our trials, temptations, tests, and every thought through scripture.

Combining “sober” and “vigilant” paints an interesting word-picture for us. When a person is heavily intoxicated, he wants nothing more than to sleep it off, so it is impossible for the sleeping drunkard to be vigilant about anything. The message for us is that we must be attentive to our physical and spiritual condition so that we do not become spiritually intoxicated. This type of person is exactly the kind whom Satan seeks. If we enter this state, then we make ourselves a prime target to be devoured by the “roaring lion.” Second, for Peter, the gospel is a lens.

The grass withers, and the flower falls, but the word of the Lord remains forever. And this word is the good news that was spiritual malady preached to you. The Christian life is not just about obedience. It’s about obedience that produces a life of love.

You have entrance into the Holy of Holies–God’s very throne room! So, I’m not just Paul Tripp, bumping around with all the difficulties in this life, hoping I can make it. I’ve been chosen by God to be part of His eternal building; I’ve been chosen of God to now have access to Him.

He also instituted a memorial, to be performed regularly at which wine was drunk in his memory. Hardly ‘abstaining, period’ I would say. That would be more of a comment than an answer. Can you please delete your “answer” and add it as a “comment”? And really, even as a comment a personal observation, as important as it is, is probably not appropriate for this site as we are not a forum. I would have to say in my own experience with life,, to be clear of mind you must be clear of alcohol, period, abstain, quite literally.

A person reflecting this quality will be making steady progress in growing into the perfectly balanced character of Jesus Christ. When you walk through chapter one, and two, and three, and four, and five, and it’s gospel, gospel, gospel, gospel, and you stand back from that, what would you say the gospel is to Peter? Well, I want to give the ‘not,’ and then I want to say to Peter, “The Gospels are surely these three things.” For Peter, the gospel is profoundly more than an entrance and an exit.

Timothy 3:8, 11 regard no more wine; be sober

And I think that bottom line also sets up everything Peter is going to say for the rest of this book. All the hard calls that we will hear in 1 Peter are based on the fact that God is good. So, we find ourselves at the last section of 1 Peter 1. I want to say again how deeply helped I have been both at the revelation of my own heart and my need for grace, and just the growth of my confidence in the beauty of God’s redeeming plan in 1 Peter. Truly obedient people love God’s Word.

There’s nothing that we could ever do to bridge the sin gap. And so, from the foundation of the world, hear these words–this is so amazing, God devised a substitute plan to provide for us a substitute in His Son. This time, the substitute is infinitely better than we would have ever been.
